The Beaver Meadow Railroad & Coal Company was incorporated under the laws of Pennsylvania on April 7, 1830. It purchased a tract of anthracite coal land in Northampton (now Carbon) County, and between 1834 and 1836 it constructed a twenty-six mile railroad from these mines to the Lehigh Canal at Parryville.
